Important informations

at your holiday home

To ensure that your four-legged friend feels comfortable at home on vacation, please use your dog's favorite blanket or cuddly bed.

Pets are not allowed in the bed or on the furniture of the apartment. If this gets not respected, we reserve the right to charge an expense allowance of € 50,-  for the more difficult cleaning work.

A vacuum cleaner is available in front of the apartment for free use.

Leash requirement in the Kitzbuehler Alps

Dogs are very welcome at the Brixental! Here we are required to keep on a leash in the town centers ,on walking and also on hiking trails.

Dogs are also not allowed on the ski slopes and cross-country ski trails.

To ensure carefree coexistence, you have to keep the hiking trails clean at all times and to use the dog bag dispensers available for this purpose.

Dog poop - disposal

It is the duty of every owner to dispose of dog waste. For this purpose, there are many dog bag dispensers available along the hiking and walking trails.

Whether summer or winter, the meadow is not a dog toilet. Why? Dog feces contains bacteria that make farmers' hay unusable and the animals get sick. It is also an unsightly souvenir on every shoe sole and from children's hands! Dog feces should also be removed in winter to avoid unnecessary clean-up work in spring.

Traveling by bus, train and cable car

Of course, dogs are also allowed to travel on public transport and on the region’s mountain railways (gondola). However, muzzles and leashes are mandatory for small and large dogs. Please also make sure that other passengers are not disturbed or feel inconvenienced and that your dog does not damage anything.

Tips for behavior with alpine cattle

Conflicts between dogs and cows can often occur in alpine areas. We have briefly summarized for you what to do in an emergency:

  • If the animal approaches: remain calm and do not turn your back to the cow and leave slowly the pasture area.
  • Keep dogs under control and on a leash.
  • Let the dog off the leash or let go the leash out of your hand if a cow attack is foreseeable!
  • In case of a absolute emergency, give a targeted hit with the walking stick on the the cows nose.

Dog-friendly bathin lakes and waters

On hot summer days, you can refresh in the cool water. Many of the mountain river invite you to cool off during a walk or a mountain tour. The swimming lakes in the region are unfortunately not accessible to dogs. Dogs are welcome in the following waters:

  • Waldbad Gieringer Weiher at Kitzbühel
  • Pillersee at St. Ulrich Pillersee (only on a leash and NOT in the bathing area!)
  • Wiesensee at Hochfilzen (only on leash)
  • Walchsee at Kaiserwinkl (own dog beach on the east bank)
  • Berglsteinersee lake at Kramsach
  • Achensee (but not on the beach)
